The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Aowin, Hon. Samuel Adu-Gyamfi, embarked on a comprehensive three-day monitoring tour of all 8 examination centers in the Municipality during the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) which started on Monday 8th July, 2024. The centers visited were Enchi, New Yakasi, Achimfo, Abokyia, Sewum, Omanpe, Boinso, and Jema.
The MCE interacted with candidates, invigilators, and education officials, gaining valuable insights into the examination process. He was pleased to see that the candidates were well-prepared and confident, and the invigilators were professional and efficient. The exams were being conducted peacefully, and the MCE commended the Directorate of Education, led by Ms. Shirley Blankson, for their hard work and dedication.
The first day of the general exam saw a high turnout at the three centers visited, with only a few candidates absent. The MCE attributed this success to the Municipal Directorate of Education’s thorough preparations and the candidates’ determination. He was also impressed by the arrangements made to accommodate pregnant and nursing mothers, who were able to take the exam without any challenges.
Based on his observations, the MCE plans to implement measures to further improve the examination process, including exploring alternative means of delivering examination papers to remote areas, such as Sewum, Omanpe Boinso and Jema, whilst providing a more conducive environment for pregnant and nursing mothers, for them to care for their infants at the centres.
