The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Ghana Rice Improvement Project (GRIP) conducted a joint mission to Aowin Municipality on Tuesday 1st October, 2024 . The visit aimed to strengthen rice farming capacities and improve productivity.
The Ghana Rice Improvement Project (GRIP), in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), visited Aowin Municipality on to strengthen rice farming capacities.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Samuel Adu-Gyamfi, and the Municipal Director of Agriculture, Mr. Joseph Otoo led the joint delegation to Oppongkrom in Nyankomam. They engaged with local rice farmers.
The team, comprising GRIP and JICA experts, assessed rice farming practices and identified areas for improvement. Key discussions focused on:

Modernized Irrigation: Efficient water management systems.

Improved Crop Management: Enhanced fertilization, pest control and disease prevention.

Mechanization: Labor-saving technologies for planting, harvesting and processing.
Hon. Adu-Gyamfi emphasized, “This collaboration boosts our efforts to modernize agriculture and empower farmers economically.”
